Nice to meet you

Hi there, I'm Agnieszka, or Aggie for short. Welcome to my Language Café.

I've always loved languages, though I didn't think teaching was my calling. Well, not until I first set foot in the classroom in my teaching placement. Fast forward 20 years and I still enjoy it. There's no better feeling than seeing people building their skills and communicating in different languages.

I've taught in schools, companies and universities in England, Italy, and Poland. I've also trained teachers and reviewed coursebooks for publishers like Cambridge University Press. I've studied and used different methods of teaching languages. I even spoke about them at international conferences.

As a learner, I've learnt languages at school, while living in the country the language is spoken, and by creating an immersion environment. I really know what works and what doesn't.

I get how some bad language learning experiences make people believe they are bad at languages, when really they've not been shown how to learn.

Having worked with students across all ages and levels, I am confident that it's never too late or too early to start learning languages. And that learning languages doesn't take talent but a "can-do" attitude coupled with the right strategy and guidance. This is what I'll give you at the Language Café.

My students like the relaxed atmosphere in my classes so they feel comfortable using the new language, even if they make mistakes. I often hear that they feel more confident speaking foreign languages.

Nice to meet you
